Reading Comprehension
The ultimate goal in reading is comprehension! If a student can read the text but has no clue what the text was about then he/she is not comprehending. We use Jan Richardson's book The Next Step in Guided Reading. This book specifically shows the teacher how to explicitly teach the comprehension strategies. It is a goldmine full of valuable mini-lessons, models, examples, assessments, and enrichment activities.Artifacts:
